ABOUT FAMILY ABUSE CENTER

Family Abuse Center exists to eliminate domestic violence in Central Texas by sheltering victims of domestic violence and preventing abuse from occurring through intervention and education. GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE:

The overall responsibility of the Staff Accountant is to assist the Director of Finance with select aspects of the finances of the Family Abuse Center.

The regular workday for this position will be within Family Abuse Center business hours, M-F, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., except for special client activities.  Work hours cannot exceed 40 hours per week without pre-approved overtime.

Education        

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Accounting

Experience

  • Experience in the field of non-profit or for-profit accounting and/or finance preferred
  • Experience working with QuickBooks

Licenses/Credentials

  • Valid Texas Driver’s License and clear driving record
  • Valid Auto Insurance

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ongoing/monthly Duties:
  • General bookkeeping functions: processing checks, deposits, general journal entries, entering payments, invoices, etc.
  • Performs payroll function.
  • Assist with preparing financial and accounting documents, reports and statements in compliance with GAAP principles for funders, audits, board packets, etc.
  • Ensure safeguarding of financial records and equipment assets, including maintaining filing systems and documentation.
  • Assist with monitoring and projecting cash flow.
  • Assist with Human Resource duties, creating QuickBooks employee profiles, employment benefit packages, annual training, etc.
  • As needed, act as a back-up receptionist by helping to answer and direct calls, administer the telephone system, greet and announce clients/visitors and process incoming and outgoing mail and faxes
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Annual Duties:
  • Assist in the development of the organization’s annual budget.
  • Assist with Audits.
  • Assist with analyzing short-term and long-term fiscal goals and project cash requirements.
  • One-Time Projects:
  • Assist with developing, implementing, and testing written financial management policies and operating procedures.
