Emily Crew and Jim Curtis

Emily Crew- DWTWS head shot

Emily (Hoyt) Crew moved to Waco in the 3rd grade, and graduated from Midway High School in 1998.  While attending college at Sam Houston State University, Emily and her Mother (Nancy) were contestants on Season 1 of “The Amazing Race” on CBS, placing 5th overall (and making incredible memories together)!

After returning from her “Amazing” adventure, she graduated with her degree in English Literature and Dance and promptly moved to Los Angeles for a job with CBS.  While working for the network, Emily had the opportunity to work on shows such as “The Price is Right”, “The Young and the Restless”, and “American Idol” among others.

After some time in the California sun, the Lone Star State called her home and upon returning to Texas, she met and married her incredible husband, Matt.  Together they have two children; Caroline (11) & Henry (7), who keep them very busy- but very fulfilled.

Emily and her husband own HGS Self Storage here in Waco, along with other commercial real estate properties.   She is a member of the Woodway Elementary PTA Board and has worked on fundraising events for organizations such as Inspiración, St. Paul’s Episcopal School, PPGT, Toys for Tots, and the ALS Association.

She spends most of her time shuttling her active kiddos all around town to their various activities and is grateful for the opportunity to do so.  Her other interests include traveling, party planning, listening to true crime podcasts, and spending time with precious friends and family.

Jim Curtis started dancing as an adult in 2021 and is proof that it doesn’t matter what season of life you find yourself in, it’s a good time to start (or continue) your dance journey. Jim’s favorite style changes depending on the day, but West Coast Swing holds a special place in his heart because of its smooth feel and casual look. Jim loves working with his students at the Arthur Murray Waco Studio and his favorite part of the job is helping people connect with each other and music through dance. In his free time, Jim enjoys reading, long walks with his wife, a good cup of coffee in the morning, and exploring new music.
