Shelter Assistant


Shelter Assistants are extremely valued here at Family Abuse Center (FAC). Resident Advocates are the people that run the back of the shelter by taking crisis calls, getting clients medication, cooking meals, doing intakes on new clients, etc. As a Shelter Assistant you would be making the very hectic lives of the Resident Advocates a little easier.



Prerequisites:
  • Volunteer Application

  • Confidentiality Form

  • Background Check

  • Orientation


Shelter Assistants must be able to take direction well and work in a fast paced environment. With opportunities to help during the morning, afternoon, and evening Shelter Assistants provide necessary behind the scenes work that make our shelter run smoothly.



Various tasks include:
  • Sort and fold clothing in the clothing pantry

  • Fold and organize linen closet

  • Organize food pantry

  • Clean and organize kitchen

  • Filing and putting together different folders in the Command Center


Skills/Abilities:
  • Good verbal communication skills

  • Strong critical thinking skills

  • Demonstrates independence

  • Strong organizational skills
