Children’s Group Volunteers

Children’s Group Volunteers are essential to Family Abuse Center (FAC) children’s program. Children’s Group Volunteers assist in the supervision and leadership of children’s group at FAC. Typically, group is three nights a week from 7 pm-8 pm, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

Children’s Group Volunteers are primarily trained by the Children’s Services Coordinator at FAC. Volunteers are trained on how to engage and interact with child survivors of domestic violence, specifically in the group setting. Training also addresses the policies and procedures unique to working with FAC’s child population (i.e. methods of discipline, activity topics, etc).

Children’s Group Volunteers typically commit to one night a week although scheduling is flexible. If anyone is interested, there is opportunity to carry a greater leadership role during children’s group, under the supervision of the Children’s Services Coordinator and/or FAC interns.
